GEX Management Launches "What the Numbers Miss," a Podcast on the Operating Numbers Behind Business Decisions
Two episodes are live. Each takes a single number a company reports and works through what it leaves out — the same question GEX Management asks when it evaluates a business.
DALLAS, TX, Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GEX Management, Inc. (OTC: GXXM), a strategy and operations focused firm based in Dallas, Texas, today announced the launch of "What the Numbers Miss," a recurring podcast published on the Company's website and distributed through Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
The format is narrow by design. Each episode takes one number a business commonly reports, works through the arithmetic behind it, and identifies what the single figure leaves out. Episodes run approximately eleven minutes. Two are live as of today.
The First Two Episodes
Episode 1, "The Ten Thousand Dollar Gap," examines the distance between a home care aide's hourly wage and annual earnings. PHI's Direct Care Workers in the United States: Key Facts 2025 reports a median hourly wage of $17.36 in 2024 and median annual earnings of just under $26,000, with 46 percent of that workforce working part time at under thirty-five hours a week. The two figures do not reconcile across a full-time year, and the episode works through what that difference says about how a turnover number should be read.
Episode 2, "The Sentence on the Careers Page," examines the line many employers publish about offering health benefits. The Kaiser Family Foundation's 2025 Employer Health Benefits Survey reports that 80 percent of workers at firms offering coverage are eligible for it, and that 76 percent of those eligible enroll, leaving 61 percent of workers covered. The episode works through the distance between offered, eligible and enrolled, and what separates a change in eligibility from a change in take-up.
The Conditions Behind the Show
Federal data describes two pressures running at the same time. The CMS Office of the Actuary reports freestanding home health spending of $169.4 billion in 2024, an increase of 10.2 percent, while the CMS CY2026 Home Health Prospective Payment System final rule sets aggregate Medicare payments to home health agencies 1.3 percent lower. Separately, the U.S. Census Bureau's Business Trends and Outlook Survey put artificial intelligence use among businesses nationally at 19.8 percent as of May 2026, with roughly 37 percent among firms of 250 or more employees against under 20 percent among firms with fewer than 20.
Neither of those is a technology story on its own. Both are operating questions about what a reported number actually contains, and who has the means to find out.
"Most companies are run on numbers that were never built to answer the question being asked of them," said Mr. Sri Vanamali, Chief Executive Officer of GEX Management. "A turnover rate, a benefits line, a growth figure — each one is two or three different things added together, and the part that matters is usually the part that got averaged away. Finding it is not an academic exercise. It is the difference between a business you can improve and one you cannot."
"There is a widening gap between the companies that can see themselves clearly and the ones that cannot, and it does not track with how good the business is. It tracks with size," said Mr. Vanamali. "Healthcare is where that shows up most sharply right now, because demand and reimbursement are moving in opposite directions and there is no room left for reading a number wrong. Closing that gap is the work. It is why healthcare services and technology are the two sectors we prioritize, and this show is that argument made in public."
Where to Listen
What the Numbers Miss is available on the Company's website at https://www.gexmanagement.com/podcast and through Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Every figure cited in an episode is published with the document it came from on the Company's Knowledge Center.
The program is hosted by Mr. Vanamali with a co-host named Ada, who is an artificial intelligence and is identified as one within the first thirty seconds of every episode. Ada is an editorial format choice, not a product, platform, service or technology offering of the Company.
